Season Stats are up except for game one. No one kept the book on game one.

Congratulations out to the Stingrays for there Fall season Championship. What a season!
When the season started It looked like the Miller Lites would be celler dwellers, with a start of three losses and scoring just 5 runs. Then the Mites go on to loss just one more game in the remainder of the season to finish second to the Stingrays. After beating the Old Salts to get into the Championship game the Mites gave the Stingrays all they could handle and fell just one run away from being champions. Great season MITES!!!!!!

The Mites blast there way past the Seahawks by opening up a 5 run lead in the top of the first inning and never looking back. The score was 10 to 0 going into the bottom of the 7th behind Tim Whitehead's magnificent performance, letting up just two hits through six. Rick Mongero finished up the game in the 7th. The Hawks rallied for two runs off of Rick to avoid the shutout. Tim also went 3 for 3 and drew a walk with two RBIs for a perfect day all around. Tom Finnelly also had three hits on the day, a two bagger and two singles. This closes out the Mites series with the Hawks this fall with the Mites taking it 2 games to 1

The Stingrays put an end to the Mites 3 game winning streak. The Rays bats were hot and the Mites were not. In a well played defensive game from both teams, it all came down to hitting the ball where they ain't. This night the Rays were better at doing just that. This win gives the Rays a 2 to 1 advantage in their series with the Mites this fall. With one game left to play against the Rays the Mites will be looking to tie that series.

Miller Lites come from behind to steal a win from the Old Salts. The Old Salts came out with both barrels blazing, scoring 4 runs in the top of the first inning. The Mites worked there way back in the game by scoring 1 in each of the 4th,5th,and 6th innings. The O-Salts scored an insurance run in the top of the 7th. With the score O-Salts 5 and Mites 3, the bottom of the 7th proved to be fatal when the O-Salts committed three errors. This left the door wide open for the Mites as they took full advantage, scoring 3 in the bottom of the 7th for the win. The Mites are on a three game winning streak with every team member contributing to the wins with their gloves, bats or both. GO Mites!

Miller Lites bats stay hot scoring 7 runs in the first two innings. Hits were coming from everywhere down the line up. Bob Jernigan once again provided the spark with 3 hits (including a triple) and three RBIs. Rick Mongero also went 3 for 4 driving in a run. Tim Whitehead drove in 2 RBIs. Bill Cauley and Frank Amoroso drove in the other 2 runs. Special thanks out to Frank for helping out our pitching staff by hurling 4 strong innings. Billy Cauley finished off the last three innings but got in trouble in the top of the 7th through no fault of his own. A couple of errors opended the door for the Seahawks. One by yours truly over running a hard line drive in left field. The Mites held off the late charge from the Seahawks to earn there second win of the season.

Finally the Mites get a win by Stinging the Rays with there first loss, The 5 to 3 victory was a product of excellant pitching from Tim Whitehead and the Mites bats finally waking up! Bob Jernigan lead the offense with a 4 for 4 day (two doubles and two singles). Gary Lanier went 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs. Rick Mongero added a double, a single and a walk to his credit. The Mites defense was shored up with the addition of Tommy Finnelly in the lineup, as he played a flawless game at second base.

OK, this is getting old. Once again the Mighty Mites can't supply runs to back up a great pitching performance. Bill Cauley had an outstanding day on the mound only letting up two runs. Bill tried to help his own cause with two hits and a walk out of four trips to the plate. The rest of us, well lets just say we need to get it going and soon. The Mites lose another close one, this time to the defending champion Seahawks.

OK, tonight looked like the Mites might just win a game. Not to be. Although Rick Mongero pitched a gem of a game we could only supply him with just one run to work with all night. The Mites held on to that one run lead all the way into the top of the 6th when the Old Salts broke through with 3 runs in the bottom of the inning. We'll get em next time!

We are the new guys on the block. Well not so new as we are the oldest team playing in the league. Please just hit the ball to us so we don't have to run so far to get it. Last Sunday the Stingrays kept hitting the ball over our heads, this was just not fair. They beat us 8 to 4. Next time we see you guys take it easy on us OK?
